ABOUT BIFOLD GLASS DOORS

BIFOLD FEATURES

DIY INSTALLATION

Made from uPVC.
Not Aluminium.

uPVC bifold doors are made from uPVC which stands for unplasticised polyvinyl chloride. This material has excellent, durable properties which are perfect for doors and windows.

The use of PVC for doors and windows is relatively new compared to the more common choices of timber and aluminum.

According to the Vinyl Council of Australia, about 40 per cent of all window and doors in Europe are made from PVC. This is due to the durability of PVC, low maintenance, design flexibility and competitive prices.

Comparatively, traditional aluminum frames conduct both heat and cold reducing thermal efficiency. And whilst timber frames are good insulators, they weather and can warp, shrink and expand requiring a lot of maintenance.

Alternatively, doors made from uPVC are superior due to their thermal properties, low maintenance and competitive costs.

  • 100% Water resistant
  • Fire resistant
  • Highly UV resistant
  • Do not warp or corrode – great for properties near the sea
  • Durable – PVC has an extremely long life span
  • Low maintenance – never have to paint, seal or do any other maintenance.
  • Splinter free
  • Energy efficient – they are more efficient than wooden door frames and up to three times as efficient as aluminum frames
  • Completely recyclable

All doors and windows need to be installed with care and it is especially important with Bi Fold doors/windows that all frames are installed EXACTLY Plumb and level. There is considerable weight on the frame from even 2 doors and if the outer frame leans “in” by even 1 or 2mm it will cause the door to drop over time and catch on the bottom frame.
